Workday Client Portfolio Manager

For over seven years IBM has been partnering with Workday to bring innovation, analytics-driven insights, and high-touch customer service to our clients. Together, we are helping clients build smarter HR and financial management capabilities, and enabling them to fully realize the benefits of their Workday solutions.

We are currently seeking Client Portfolio Managers (CPM) for our growing Workday practice. The Client Portfolio Manager will be responsible for providing product expertise, implementation oversight, quality assurance, and account management for our Workday engagements. The CPM will drive business and work with Engagement Managers to resolve issues that stand in the way of project success. Client Portfolio Managers are typically members of the project steering committee and serve as an initial point of escalation. The CPM will manage two or three Engagement Managers and be responsible for managing a portfolio of up to 6 concurrent projects. Ultimately, the CPM is responsible for achieving client satisfaction on each project.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Success
  • Conduct internal project reviews and Quality Assurance Reviews
  • Successfully advocate for the client within IBM
  • Build trusting and collaborative business relationships with clients at all levels
  • Focus on providing the best results for the clients’ business
  • Stays on top of concerns to avert issues early
Project Delivery
  • Maintain utilization goals for project teams
  • Ensure positive project execution while aiding Engagement Managers with removing barriers and maintaining focus
  • Own a great client relationship to set overall expectations and project vision; participate in Steering Committee Meetings
  • Ensure all projects are delivered according to Workday and IBM methodologies and procedures
  • Serve as escalation point for Client
  • Coordinate with Resource Management to identify appropriate resources and skills for projects
Business Development
  • Identify and drive new business from existing accounts to exceed quota
  • Develop a Post Production Support pipeline of business from Workday Install base
  • Work together with Sales to develop account growth targets and strategies
  • Understand clients’ business and project goals by leading Quarterly Business Reviews and planning sessions
  • Participate in pre-sales and help rationalize / justify the Workday Services estimate for pursuits
  • Transition pre-sales project knowledge and documentation to the appropriate project delivery team
  • Develop and help author Statements of Work and Change Orders
Team Management
  • Direct management and mentoring of your team
  • Encourage consultant skills cross-training to take on additional Workday modules
  • Ensure all team members have training on internal business processes and objectives
  • Keep teams motivated and engaged while promoting a strong team and company culture
  • Look for opportunities to provide an exceptional client experience
  • Identify continuous quality improvement initiatives through process, templates, and best practices

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • At least 8 years of consulting experience, preferably implementing global enterprise HCM and/or Financials solutions for large, complex organizations
  • At least 8 years experience managing teams across business functions, with demonstrated ability to influence others outside area of direct management
  • At least 5 years of business development experience

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • At least 12 years of consulting experience, preferably implementing global enterprise HCM and/or Financials solutions for large, complex organizations
  • At least 8 years of business development experience
  • At least 8 years of experience with a major systems integrator and/or an enterprise software company
  • At least 8 years experience managing teams across business functions, with demonstrated ability to influence others outside area of direct management
  • At least 8 years experience as a Project Management Professional with a strong background in project planning and execution, resource planning, scope control, risk and issue management, quality assurance, and other project management tools, processes, and best practices
  • Certified in Workday Engagement Management
