Position Summary

This position is represented by the Engineers & Scientists of California (ESC) union subject to collective bargaining.

 

This position requires the ability to work independently and without supervision.  In addition, this position requires the ability to provide leadership among engineers, including high-level technical knowledge; possess leadership skills, including excellent written and verbal communications; lead engineering teams on larger projects; manage or assist with client communications and meetings; review and approve designs for compliance with all applicable standards, regulations and best practices; provide engineering time and cost estimates; work closely with other engineers, including attendance at client meetings to ensure consistent, high-quality engineering product

delivery to clients; provide final approval of designs prior to issuance to clients through the Project Manager.

 

To obtain and maintain employment and unescorted access at DCPP, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check, psychological screen, computer-based training, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Coaches, directs, and assists technical employees and teams.
  • Develops innovative solutions to resolve challenging technical issues and help on operational issues as needed.
  • Manages large highly complex projects and perform engineering analyses, comparative studies of various alternatives, and develop conceptual designs.
  • Performs Telecom Project work on large and system-wide projects.
  • Provides input to SMEs on Technical Standards Development.
  • Provides technical advice to Project Mangers in scheduling of different technical activities as related to a complex project and their budget impact.
  • Works with design engineers to ensure that final documentation is accurate.
  • Resolves problems of complex scope which may require complex solutions.
  • Supports root cause analysis and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Mentors associate and journey Telecom Project engineers.

 

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Mathematics, Statistics or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 8 years of experience in engineering, planning or operations

 

Desired:

  • ENGDRI Qualification
  • Applicability Determination (AD) & License Basis Impact Evaluation (LBIE)
  • 3 years of experience in the Nuclear Industry
  • Current and active California PE license and/or recognized industry credentials and or certifications desired.
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications transmission (including SONET and DWDM fiber optics systems, and digital microwave)
  • Knowledge of IP data networks (including Data Center infrastructure, WAN and LAN systems)
  • Knowledge of Voice systems (including VoIP and traditional PBX systems)
  • Knowledge of radio systems (including RoIP, conventional and trunked radio system)
  • Knowledge of remote telemetry (including SCADA and protective relay equipment)
