Senior Business Analyst - Healthcare - Schaumburg, IL

Under general supervision, the Senior Business Analyst is responsible for gathering, documenting and maintaining detailed business requirements as part of the system delivery life cycle. As a key member of the enterprise business analysis team you will be asked to use existing department, enterprise and industry standards and processes to elicit and document high quality business requirements. This individual will work as part of cross functional job teams that include business users, IT development teams, quality assurance testing teams and project management to deliver state of the art system solutions and business processes that directly improve the quality of life for our members.   Primary Responsibilities: Support the business unit officers by acting as a liaison between business unit and IT staff. Facilitate communications and knowledge transfer where required Lead the analysis and development of business requirements through a variety of techniques and methods, including, but not limited to; interviews, facilitated sessions, prototypes and observation Conduct current state analysis to gather current functional and non-functional business requirements, constraints and dependencies (i.e., define the "as-is" state) Document future state business and system needs using appropriate tools/processes (e.g., develop "to-be" process maps and context diagrams) Recognize opportunities and make recommendations to help business partners work more effectively and efficiently and/or increased quality and reliability Participate in the prioritization of business requirements throughout the entire project life cycle by working with the business partners and development teams Enforce the change management process and capture all approved changes to requirements  Participate in the review of quality assurance test plans to validate new processes and systems meet business requirements Display exceptional attention to detail and  deliver consistent quality work product Serve on projects teams. Contribute to the development of project work plans by estimating work effort for requirements analysis activity and reporting clear and accurate work statusRequired Qualifications: 3+ years of business analysis work: Hands on experience in developing and writing clear business requirements Successful experience in leading / facilitating requirements elicitation sessions Experience in process modeling, business value analysis and business process analysis Strong analytical and problem solving skills Understands the difference between a business requirement, a functional requirement and a technical solution Experience following a change management process Knowledge of SDLC processes, roles, responsibilities and deliverables Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio) Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and / or related functional area or equivalent work experience 1+ years of experience working on healthcare systems (authorizations, membership, referrals, eligibility, provider, etc.) with understanding of medical terminology, PBM or payer concepts Experience writing uses cases, user stories and acceptance criteria Experience with external facing applications planning and design Experience with Waterfall, Agile/Scrum and RUP project delivery methodologies Able to apply understanding of applicable regulations (e.g., HIPAA, SOX) and UHG policies/standards (e.g., RSA security) Self-motivated, self-directed, team oriented, responsible, and reliable, with a positive attitude and a proactive style. Must possess the ability to operate in an unstructured and highly variable work environment Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, ability to articulate complex ideas, issues and designs to various levels of personnel, including middle and senior management Ability to adapt to change, work independently, organize work effectively and take initiative in fast-paced work environment while managing multiple tasks and deliverables simultaneously Ability to quickly acquire and apply knowledge to negotiation, facilitation and consensus building Business Analysis certification (i.e. CBAP or PMI PBA) Experience gathering business requirements as part of a UX design Experience with requirement writing and repository tools (Raven, Rally, Req Pro, etc.)   Technology Careers with Optum.
