Department Overview

The Wildfire Safety Operations Center (WSOC) is a new 24/7 facility that monitors and detects wildfires, coordinates PG&E’s response to support first responders during wildfires, manages the Public Safety Power Shut-off (PSPS) process and coordinates and supports field and EOC staff during an emergency.

The WSOC is staffed with 19 full-time staff whose primary responsibility is to monitor and detect wildfires in real-time. In addition to the WSOC staff there are 8 fulltime field based Public Safety Specialists who report to a PSS Supervisor, the PSS primary responsibility is to interface with first responders in the field during wildfires. 


Position Summary

The Public Safety & Regulatory Supervisor is responsible for supervising the Public Safety Specialists in the field across the service territory. The Supervisors goal is to ensure there are effective incident notifications and communication between the WSOC personnel and the PSS in the field, develop goals for the PSS team that align with the WSOC’s mission and Fire Resiliency & Emergency Management Organization, and develop metrics for the PSS team. The PSS Supervisor will work closely with WSOC Leadership on a day-to-day basis and manage effective communication between the PSS team in the field and the WSOC team. The position is in San Francisco, there is frequent travel associated with this position.


Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising Public Safety Specialist Employees in the field.
  • Set expectations for the PSS on a day-to-day basis. Drive performance and continuous improvement on the PSS team.
  • Maintain PSS schedules and locations when they are deployed to Incident Command Posts.
  • Identify and coordinate training needs as well as training the PSS are responsible for teaching (i.e. First Responder Trainings)
  • Work with the WSOC Manager and WSOC Supervisors to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide Situational Awareness reports/Incident notifications to the WSOC Supervisors as appropriate.
  • Work with the WSOC Supervisors to ensure WSOC records and documents are retained and maintained in accordance with PG&E’s Enterprise Records and Information Management (ERIM) policies and legal guidance




  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma
  • Job-related technical experience, 6 years
  • CA Class C License, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite



  • Managerial or Supervisory experience of field-based employees
  • Experience in program management, 1 year
  • Bachelor’s Degree in job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience as Training Officer, public safety organization
  • Knowledge of ICS with an Emphasis on application of ICS to fire service and/or law enforcement
  • Knowledge or experience in serving as an agency representative during emergencies
  • Experience in on-line databases such as Salesforce
