Insurance Business Partner, MI & Analysis

The Insurance Business Partner, MI & Analysis role is based within Finance (Insurance). This is a Head Office based role.Insurance UK are responsible for the manufacturing, sourcing and supply of insurance products and services for HSBC UK, first direct, M&S Bank and Commercial Banking, with external distribution for a number of product lines under both the HSBC and other brands. The Insurance Business Partner, Management Information (MI) & Analysis manager will provide analytical analysis, undertake investigations and be willing to get involved in the detail to support the Insurance business. There is a strong focus on understanding key drivers and insight, commentary and presentations with an ability to explain complex information in a straight forward manner. The role will cover both income, expenses, FTE and the balance sheet. The role works with teams in multi locations, interfacing and aligning with Group Insurance and Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM). Your responsibilities will include:
  • Primary responsibility for planning expenses, FTE & unit costing (Annual Operating Plan -AOP & Large Exposures -LE submissions). Provide presentations and detailed route maps for both managed costs and manufacturing costs
  • Primary responsibility for EXCO & PRA MI: commentary, analysis, presentation & accuracy
  • Lead on ring fence bank initiative for insurance costs.
  • Support and cover planning of income & submissions
  • Support and cover for all other MI (board & Retirement Advice Centre of Excellence -RAC packs, GI pack)
  • Review & oversee offshore activities relating to primary responsibilities
  • Enhance income models to support future MI requirements
  • Support business projects as finance expert
  • Support Group Finance initiatives to standardise MI
  • Support move to IFRS 17
  • Managing the various stakeholders to ensure all reporting is aligned.
  • Initiating, building and maintaining professional trusted relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including propositions, distribution, Wealth, Group Insurance, Underwriting, Claims, servicing and Global Functions – ARA & Risk
  • Understanding, aspiring and managing yourself to ensure that right results are achieved, in the right way – in line with HSBC’s Values and Behaviours.
  • Contribute and facilitates open and honest communication within the team and across teams with tact and integrity.
  • Support change in the wider team, sharing knowledge and expertise.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:
  • Role relevant qualifications, i.e. Accountancy
  • Experience of using relevant software packages, i.e. Excel
  • Relevant product knowledge including knowledge of Insurance products and services is desirable but not essential
  • Experience working in relevant environment/s, i.e. Finance is desirable but not essential
  • Experience working in relevant market/context, i.e. Financial Services is desirable but not essential
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to change and will support others to respond in a similar way
  • Ability to set and achieve challenging short, medium and long term goals which exceeded the standards in their field
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
  • Ability to contribute productively to team objectives, sometimes supporting and sometimes leading activities to achieve shared goals
  • Experience of creating and deploying comprehensive business/operating plans which consistently deliver desired results
  • A broad understanding of financial budgets/statements/models, with experience of analysing data effectively for planning, forecasting and reporting
