Food Services Supervisor - Nutrition and Food Services (On Call - Varied)
POSITION SUMMARY: The Food Service Supervisor coordinates and supervises all patient tray assembly and distribution, sanitation, food production, and ordering work functions and personnel. They order food as well as perform sanitation, safety, quality and security checks to ensure that Department standards are upheld. They interview, orient, train, evaluate, coach and counsel and recommend salary increases. MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education: High school graduation or equivalent is required. They must be able to read, write and speak English proficiently. Must have sufficient mathematical ability to keep records and prepare reports. Formal training in supervision and food service management is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates that meet Title 22 requirements for a dietetic supervisor. Experience:Prior food service experience is necessary. Previous food service supervisory experience is necessary (formal supervisory and food service management training will be considered). Knowledge:Knowledge of basic safety, sanitation and food preparation techniques and standards is required. Special Skills/Equipment:Ability to withstand the pressures of volume feeding and effectiveness in oral and written communication is required. The incumbent must be familiar with the safe and sanitary operation of all common pieces of kitchen equipment. Computer literacy and familiarity with various software programs is preferred. Certification acceptable to the state of California in food safety must be obtained within six months of hire.
