The accounting operations teams are responsible for ensuring that the financial results of T-Mobile are accurately presented to T-Mobile leadership under both US GAAP and IFRS. There are a variety of teams within accounting operations, each responsible for diverse areas of accounting, allowing for a variety of opportunities for professional growth and development across the teams. The various teams are responsible for areas such as corporate accounting, accounting policies, supply chain accounting, equipment sales accounting, revenue accounting and fixed asset accounting.

The Promo Journey Accounting Manager (Device Financing) is responsible for ensuring that Device Promotion activities are accurately presented under US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards. The manager should have a strong foundation in general accounting and a strong analytical and problem solving ability. This position will have frequent interactions with cross-functional teams within the greater Accounting department as well as outside of Accounting; including Marketing, Operations, IT, Tax, Legal and Financial Planning & Analysis. A successful manager will own the close process end-to-end, ensuring all balance sheet and income statement journal entries are recorded timely and accurately. He/she will work with FP&A partners to ensure promotional impacts to the financial statements are included in monthly budgeting and variances can be adequately explained.
This individual is also responsible for ensuring device promotion related offers and projects are executed successfully. A successful offer is one that results in accurate accounting while, minimizes manual calculation of entries and delivers value to T-Mobile customers. He or she must be able to assess offers for accounting impacts and manage offer constructs. Partnering with teams inside and outside of accounting is a critical component of the role as delivering value to our customers and accounting for it correctly is a cross-functional objective.
Successful projects require an individual who can synergize an understanding of operational accounting, technical accounting and IT infrastructure. He or she must work cross-functionally to ensure accounting needs are met, while considering the impact to other departments as well as the financial impact to T-Mobile. The ability to write clear and concise project requirements and keep all interested parties informed timely is a must. The ability to deliver a quality project requires an individual with the ability to work in the details and also think strategically about the impact to the accounting organization and T-Mobile.Strong understanding of accounting theory and accounting systems.
Able to perform complex analysis and reconciliations of diverse scope.
Apply financial analysis techniques to complex problems.
High proficiency in Excel and Word required. BW, Business Objects or SQL experience a plus.
Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to balance a large group of diverse projects simultaneously with excellent attention to detail.
Able to resolve complex problems positively and professionally with minimal supervision.
Comfortable expressing concerns and ideas during interactions and meetings.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as decision-making and analytical abilities.

Accounting degree required
CPA strongly preferredUse accounting concepts, wide-ranging experience, analytical skills and knowledge of industry to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
Exercise accuracy and employ reconciling techniques to tie out numbers from different sources; periodically test reports.
Be a leader with the Promo Journey team and a resource for accountants and non-accountants alike. Provide advice, guidance, and training on accounting issues around device promotions.
Leverage other team members' skills and expertise to enhance the team's effectiveness.
Lead productive meetings with accounting team and business partners.
Proactively identify risks and areas of improvement and make recommendations.
Understand business drivers and their effect on financial results to ensure business changes are accurately reflected in the financial statements and analysis.
Manage cross-departmental projects. Identify and communicate the impact of new programs or system changes on existing accounting processes timely.
Responsible for preparing journal entry support and identifying month-end accruals that may be required.
Responsible for monthly financial statement results analysis and presentation to leadership.
